Poisonwood bible

Sit in a lagoon of nothing
something’s got to count for something
but let there be sadness for now
Sun seiving through fingers
on the mountain, or was it rain?
what’s the point of understanding
if we always try replace
The ridgeback looked like glass
like the beer you smashed
when I said it should be your last
Poison wood bible
colour of my skin darkens
in the summer, when I wanna
let someone new in
Feelings of shame around
the people I have been
While ants shift giant rubble
ancient faces, crooked limbs
Afraid of doing something mindless
of saying something wrong
it's aimless like a pendulum
and pointless like a bomb
Then I remember you’re somebody’s baby
and it makes me way less angry
